Public Relations love at first sight

Yes..........it is.

Ask me why then i will gladly tell you the reasons. Well, i see PR as my daily guideline to live life by the principles set out to do good things in the society. At first, to be honest with everyone, i never knew PR and what it does. I ask myself this question, if i never knew PR, will i be happy today or was i going to find what i love if it was not for PR?

I am really glad that i met you and together we created this bond that is stronger than your purposes because with you on my side i can be able to shape the future and create an environment that means a lot to the organization, customer and the media, and i can also tackle the world with no shame.

With you on my side i can be able to shape the media in the right direction which will result to a global village. What PR taught me is that good communication can go a long way between the two of us and that having a healthy relationship is very crucial to us succeeding in everything we do going forward.

In conclusion, with you by my side i will be able to perform a variety of public relations tasks and functions, such as writing press releases, organizing special events, liaising with the media, implementing internal and external communication programmes, lobbying, and conducting opinion research surveys

What you gain and lose by taking risks

‘’The biggest risk is not taking any risk... In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks’’, Mark Zuckerberg.

If you ever want to achieve the life you've always dreamed of, you will have to start taking positive and calculated risks. It is absolutely necessary to take chances to achieve anything great in life. As a person ask yourself this question, however many people are scared to take the initial leap of making risk in order to achieve great things in life?

Well my friend, as with any risk there is always something at stake. In most instanceswhen it comes to your business, career relationship family and friendship just to name a few, you stand to lose money, time, reputation, pride and respect which are also the very same things you stand to gain in return if you take risks. The benefits of taking risks will enrich your life and make your business or career much more rewarding than you ever imagine.
Taking risks opens you up to new challenges and opportunities. Push yourself to learn a new skill and gain knowledge, trust or maybe making new friends along the way. Also by taking risks you creating a part for other people to follow in your footsteps and look up to you for motivation, guidance, knowledge and opinions.

Taking risks empowers you to establish new limits in your mind. We all have boundaries or a comfort zone where we would like to stay and many have misconstrued visions of what we think we deserve or are capable of accomplishing. When you take risks, you can eradicate that thinking, establish new boundaries, and improve your outlook on life and your ability to achieve on high levels.

In my conclusion, taking risks can cause you to become more creative. When you put yourself out of your comfort zone, with a no-excuse approach, your natural problem solving skills kick in and you are open to new ideas and you are willing to try something new.

Why disappointment is good?

Some would say in order to be successful in life, they need to go through disappointment in life at the early stage. When was the last time you faced disappointment, maybe from a definite result that did not meet your hopes. It could be any event in your life, from a big setback to a small accident. Perhaps your meeting at work did not go as well as you anticipated. Your new job was not what you expected. Maybe someone you like did not reply to your feelings or suggestions. Maybe your relationship did not work out the way you hope it would.

“One’s best success comes after their greatest disappointments.” – Henry Ward Beecher
How did it feel? Every day, people deal with disappointments, depending on how big the disappointment is and how you chose to deal with it, the feeling of disappointment may drive away after a short while or hang over your life for an extended period of time. If not handled properly, disappointments can lead to depression and eventually apathy.
If you don’t care about something, you would not be feeling disappointed, would you? I doubt you would because the very presence of disappointment suggests that this is something you care about so much that you would feel bad over it. The higher your disappointment, the stronger your passion for this is. Disappointment also indicates an opportunity for progress and growth. If you are disappointed in some result, it means there is actually a positive mistake in your framework of thought which need to be resolved. Whenever you are disappointed, it means you have certain mental impressions about reality which you need to address.

Is the media release dead in the age of social media?

Well, one would wonder why companies or organisations issue media or news release, let me tell you the whole trust behind it, its because they want issue information or get the message across. Yes, media release is dead or should I say its been long dead before even a lot of people get to understand or know its purposes. don't get me wrong, there were times where it was really considered as one of the best medium of communication to reach the gab of the organisation with its targeted audiences. Funny enough the introduction of social media changed all that and it brought a new sense or ways of reaching out to the people as soon as possible rather than sitting the whole day trying to send media releases to journalist and then also waiting for confirmation.

Yes, there are times when they are a necessary evil. Earnings releases come to mind as they contain legally binding statements. But the traditional news release is a dreadful animal–read by few–and should be put out of its misery, http://goo.gl/hib5jB.  In the 21st century, especially when it comes to football clubs or teams (both national and international) neglect or avoid using media release instant they prefer social media as it fast, consistence and trustworthy, i.e. they usually use it to announce new signings and accomplishments. for instance, Real Madrid used social media to announce their new signing which will instantly show their supporters and fans around the world about their accomplishment, if it was back in the old days of relying to media release, their fans would have had to wait for the following day just to hear the news.

In an age where established corporations are challenged by Internet start-ups and consumers order dinner on their smartphones, every industry is learning to adapt to modern advances in digital technology. In fact, industries are finding ways to harness these developments and capitalize on them. the truth is, whether you like or not, that social media have created a global village in relation to reach the gab information transmitted to people. social media is the opportunity to tell the people stories and get straight to the point, which is what people want to hear compared to media release. Media releases are long and sometimes people want to hear the news only instant of including the why, where, when, what, which and how (called the 5w's and H). In conclusion,  the truth is, no matter what you call it or what form it takes as digital and social media will continues to evolve and grow faster than you expected.

DO WE STILL NEED JOURNALIST IN THE AGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA?

http://goo.gl/O5mpDX

The "crisis" in journalism seems to be mainly one of traditional business models for print and broadcast journalism (Garcia de Madariaga, 2008; Grueskin, Seave, Graves, 2011; McChesney & Nichols, 2010; Meyer, 2006). New media relates to the on demand access to information anytime and anywhere. Well, some might argue, but in my case, I view it as a step towards moving forwards in publishing the news quickly to people. Many people turn to social media for information and news, also journalists use social media to back their stories and also to find information mostly because they follow key businesses and organisations, i.e. on twitter, linkedin and facebook.

http://goo.gl/XdP0K5

We don't have to wait for tomorrow or for next week just to read about current event stories, social media makes it easy for us to know about it as it happens. Many newspapers and broadcasting agencies rely on social media to reach their target market, rather than relying on their journalist to cover a story, i.e. just weeks or days ago, most part of South Africa was affected by an earthquake (tremor) during mid-day and the majority of leading newspaper instantly posted it on twitter and on their official websites, whereas if it was back in the days, you would have to wait for tomorrows newspaper just to read about what happened.

In my conclusion, I think that journalist or journalism is slowly fading down in expense of social media. I believe that the media shows that more people engaged more actively or often with the changes in world by capturing or taking a photos or making a video of very key moments or situation or even sharing a story instantly. In a technology driven industry, journalism is being changed or transformed in a way that its produced and used. I think that social media have modified journalism to be less appropriate in such a way that it is not considered the most effective way of distributing information. One would ask, why would I wake up early in the morning just to go buy a newspaper whereas I have my phone here next to me, whereby I can use it to look at current events and also check the topics of the day in each and every newspaper around the world or in the country.

The effect of social media is very huge and is fast growing, the pictures or advertisement are the prove of that, people who post information on social media are considered citizens journalist or journalist of the world. I guess at the end of the day we all entitled to our own opinions, well I am so sorry this mine, I don't know about you guys.
